This was my first time working for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on invitation by photographer Tono Stano. I brought stage designer Šimon Caban for a couple of years as well. 1995 was the 100th anniversary of the Czech cinema and festival director Jiří Bartoška asked for a retro poster with reference to director Gustav Machatý’s “Extasy”, the first film to show a completely naked woman. Tono Stano found a beautiful waitress in a bar and we turned her into a retro diva whose picture we used as a defence shield against a new rival festival in Prague.
