Daniel Šmíra (1991) earned his bachelor’s degree in the Text Form Function studio at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava. He later completed his master’s studies in the GDVK studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. During this period, he and Jonatan Kuna created the catalog for the UMPRUM ATTACK! exhibition, which was recognized in the Most Beautiful Book of the Year competition. His practice spans graphic design, motion design, web design, and 3D visualization, where he enjoys experimenting and exploring new modes of visual expression. He was nominated for the Czech Grand Design 2020 awards in the Graphic Designer of the Year category for a series of motion posters. He received another nomination in 2022 as the co-author of the visual identity for the SFÉRA educational center in Pardubice. His third Czech Grand Design nomination came in 2024 for the visual style of the Colours of Ostrava festival.

In 2024, he received Slovakia’s National Design Award in the Campaign category for the visual identity of the 2023 Architecture and Design Days festival, created in collaboration with graphic designer Matúš Buranovský. Since 2024, he has been collaborating with Studio Najbrt. He is the author of the visual identity for the Colours of Ostrava festival and the visual style for Prague Sounds 2025.
