Liběna Rochová – Touches
The exhibition Liběna Rochová: Touches at the Moravian Gallery in Brno is not merely a retrospective of the significant Czech fashion designer. It is also an attempt to view fashion differently – as a language that speaks about space, body, soul, and society. Here, clothing becomes a sculpture, a performative object, and a cultural statement.
The graphic design of the exhibition follows the radical architecture of the exposition. Visitors walk through seven interconnected rooms that function as chapters – a terrain of thoughts and emotions that unfolds the story of one author’s career. Individual models emerge from the white space, accompanied by simple black and white typography. The exhibition culminates in a circular room created from printed textile walls full of collection photographs, diaries, and sketches.
The exhibition visual combines portraits of Liběna Rochová by Dušan Šimánek (1981) and photographic details of her Inside 23 collection (2022) by Koto Bolofo. The visuals exist in six variants, sequentially linked and dynamically alternating between full and quiet areas.
