David Hanvald
A former member of the obr. [fig.] art group deals in his oeuvre with the subject of a painting in a frame, he works with reversed frames, deprives the frames of the canvases, or he treats the canvas as an object. His monograph therefore takes the form of a bit brutal, thick cuboid with the binding cut to quadrate with the feeling of the frame. The book’s chronological structure reproduces the works more or less proportionately besides texts by Martin Dostál and they are accompanied by photographs of installations that emphasize the paintings’ presentation in space. On the cover, there’s a gesture.
