Bomma
The success of Bomma stands on centuries old Czech glass tradition, modern technology made to order by the owner of the current glassworks, and recently also on the art direction of Studio deFORM (Václav Mlynář and Jakub Pollág). At the beginning of the development of the new visual style initiated by deFORM’s coming, the idea was to make the minuscule "b" only with the simplest of shapes. Now, some see a glass blow rod and a glass on its side. The contrast between the thin line and the bolder circle and the tension that arises in the place where the two shapes are almost touching refers to the fragility of glass products, especially the chandeliers made by Bomma since 2012. These assumptions stood at the birth of the entire alphabet, mainly in use for the names of Bomma’s collections.
