Daughters of Political Prisoners

Daughters of Political Prisoners of the 1950s bring primarily the youngest generations personal testimonies of the impact of the arrival of Czechoslovak communism in the life of families where someone’s political views resulted in persecution. In most cases, the contact between the long-term prisoners and their children was confined only to correspondence tightly controlled by the authorities, often with red “CENSORED” stamp. Zuzana Lednická thus took the stamp – an instrument of control, labeling, the stigma of the offender, not only for parents, but also their families – and turned it into an instrument in the hands of the wronged. Simple and inexpensive use of the stamp at the same time enables maximum flexibility in production of basic materials for a small non-profit organization. Important part of the promotion is also a set of postcards with archival photos and letters with real stories of repression.
