Eva Jiřičná: Phenomenon

A small publication on the occasion of the retrospective at the Prague’s Dox Center for Contemporary Art, with the subtitle “Stairs of Eva Jiřičná as an Artistic Object”, has grown into a cross-section of the work of the most successful Czech architect, with the graphic design subtly referring to her frequent practices. Photographs from the years 1969–2019 united in black and white are printed on a glossy paper with silver as a reference to metal and glass, the materials commonly used by Jiřičná. The rough surface of the gray cover conjures concrete with typography serving as a wire structure of a vertical format of a staircase. And the interview with the author, apart from the project overview and summarizing text, one of the three parts of the book that run on pages in parallel instead one after another, is rendered in her favorite orange-pink.
