Kokoschka and Prague

The selection of works that Oskar Kokoschka created, for the most part, in 1934–1938 in Czechoslovakia, is represented by a detail from The Red Egg, a work painted in England in 1940–1941. However, the painting with the Prague Castle, the British lion, the Munich Agreement, Hitler and Mussolini – all owned by the National Gallery, which organized the exhibition – reflects on the artist's stay in Prague, as well as the situation in Europe, that caused its abrupt end. Expressive typography uses a new font Zirkel and OK taken from Kokoschka’s signature.
